Hopes it's okay if I post a thread for this here. Didn't see a thread about mma so wanted to see if anyone else is a fan. Did anyone watch UFC 152? Thought it was pretty good, especially the flyweight title fight. They were so fast and the transitions were really creative and smooth, really surprised me that the crowd booed at times but I think some people don't look at lighter weight fighters in the same sense that they do heavier fighters which is a shame. Jon Jones vs Vitor Belfort was pretty good, especially when Vitor quickly transitioned to the armbar, didn't expect that at all and looked like he might've hyper extended Jones elbow. Think Vitor sort of began to rely on catching him in another armbar after since he got so close almost like when someone lands a big shot, they sort of just look for that shot again with how he pulled guard after he had Jones pressed against the cage. Vitor did alot better than I thought he'd do, especially with his bjj. Sort of knew coming in that Jones would win since he's the better wreslter and can dicate where the fight takes place with his wrestling but Vitor was pretty active off his back, even at times when it seemed like he wasn't very active, he was trying to setup the armbar by controlling the arm and wrist but didn't want to just grab on it because than it'd telegraph what he was setting up. Jones has such a long reach though that even when you grab his wrists he can still hit you with elbows from your guard, making it dangerous to pull guard. The finish was pretty brutal, once he got Vitor in the crucifix position and started throwing elbows looked like the fight was over, thankfully he went for an Americana and ended it that way. Rather not see Vitor eat elbows from crucifix like Hammil did. What did you guys think o.o?

People who don't train tend to boo. They don't understand what's going on, especially with grappling, and that it hurts to get hit.

Didn't see it, I'll look it up tomorrow if I get a chance.

What were the main fights worth watching?

There's another 1 next week right? In Nottingham, England?

Jonny Bones isnt gonna lose for a loooong time.

Hard to beat a man with that frame that studies the game and prepares as well as he does.

It was a good card overall.

Vitor in his prime had the fastest hands I have ever seen in MMA, regardless of weight class. He looked like he got some of that back in his fight with Rich Franklin but he just hasnt been the same brutal, in your face, and impregnate your mom Vitor that we used to know.

That fight against Anderson Silva killed me. I wanted Vitor to win so bad.

I thought the flyweight title fight was the best fight on the card. Bisping vs Stann was another good fight, Bisping got wobbled in the first round but than after that he came back and controlled the fight. They both went after it though. Swanson vs Oliveriera was a good fight too, finish was sort of weird to me. Swanson got in a good liver shot and than buckled Oliveriera with a punch to the eye, never really seen anything like that. The card in general though made me think that Jackson's camp needs to work on their wrestling. Every fighter from their camp on the card aside from Bones and Swanson was getting taken down at will. The Hammill fight, Hammill just dominated with his wrestling and Bisping was taking Stann down whenever he tried for it which is surprising since Bisping isn't really that great of a wrestler.

Think it's sort of weird how Bisping is in line for a title shot, I'd rather see him fight Chris Weidman for #1 contender. Do you think either of them would make it 5 rounds with Anderson or either even win against Anderson?

I liked how Vitor went for the soccer kick while Jones was crawling around at the start of the bout the way he always does. Jones was like wtf was that to the ref and Big John Mccarthy said "well you wanted to play the game".

I'd like Jones to face Gustaphson if Gustaphson can get past Shogun. His frame is similar to Jones and he's got good power in his hands. Though that wouldn't mean alot if he gets taken down and submitted. Jones is a really good wrestler and Gustaphson got wrestled and submitted by Phil Davis who's a pretty accomplished wrestler too. Still Gustaphson would put up a better fight than most in my opinion.

Machida's facing Henderson I heard. Dana offered him the fight against Jones at UFC 151 but Machida turned it down saying he needed more time to prepare. Dana's sort of pissed at Machida right now since he didn't take the fight and save the card.

Thats something i hadnt heard yet, thnx for the heads up, but dana is gonna have to suck it up, he knows machida will step up. But only when he's ready. Bones is more than a contender.

Yea, Machida is getting older so he only has 1 title shot left so I can understand why he'd want to have a full training camp before the fight. Henderson vs Machida should be a good matchup. Dan hits hard but he's sort of slow and plodding and he always looks for the big right hand that at times he can sort of telegraph it. People know it's coming but they still get hit by it. Machida's got great footwork and he's alot faster so should be a good battle. I wouldn't be surprised if Machida tried to take Dan down though.

Dan would win stylistically. Machida wouldnt be able to take him down and Dan would just counterpunch him with that right when Machida went in with his hit and run (Which is a brilliant strategy regardless of how lame it might seem). If Hendo connects with one of those rights on just about anyone, it's lights out.

Dan's been taken down by wrestlers with less credentials before though like Rousimar Palhares and Rampage. Machida's wrestling and sumo is pretty good, he has good trips and throws in the clinch. The way he took Tito down was impressive and the trip he did before the ground and pound on Thiago Silva was nice. His takedown defense is good too, so if Dan finds himself getting lit up on the feet, it'd be hard for Hendo to take Machida down. Also Dan just had that war with Shogun, even though he has a good chin and good recovery, honestly wouldn't be surprised if he gets knocked out in one of his next couple fights. Taking that amount of damage in a single fight can't be healthy.

Dan isnt a standard American wrestler. He is a Greco-Roman wrestler. While I do believe you saying that Dan might not be able to take Machida down, there is no way that Machida could take Dan down. Palharres and Rampage achieved those takedowns because of their raw power and probably a lack of Dan preparing for it. And they used doublelegs, not in Machida's set.

Would be an interesting stand up war no doubt and thats where the fight would stay.
